Research Program:
The research program is focused on "in vivo" and "in vitro" studies of orthopaedic hip and knee implants with special emphasis on bone response to implanted biomaterials and wear products from implant degradation. The research year will offer the fellow the opportunity to implant new and experimental devices and perform histologic and histomorphometric analyses of the retrieved implanted specimens. The fellowship also offers the possibility of performing biomechanical testing and finite element analysis of prosthetic implants using state of the art facilities and testing equipment.
